Nellie Knows : 2 February 2017

Yay it's February, although not my favourite of months it's the gateway to March which features plenty of birthdays and events notably my step sister's, mother in law's 70th, my forty faux and Mothering Sunday. Obviously my thoughts have been turning to gift ideas (and hints).

TreasurePods

The amazing and talented Jane Rafter has designed Slinks which are soles with interchangeable thongs and also TreasurePods which you personalise depending on what you treasure. I have one with birth stones and charms for my children so I'm going to be getting one for Granny Valley with her 3 children's birthstones and charms related to her 3 grandchildren.

Grown Not Flown

I've long been a fan of "grown not flown" and this is where Georgie of Common Farm Flowers comes in. She grows all her own flowers in Somerset, nothing is imported and they're all seasonal. Georgie offers a number of deliveries from one offs to a regular delivery which really ticks all the boxes. She also provides workshops (see photo below) like growing your own flowers, wreath making and small business courses, which run in her newly converted farm building and include tasty, home cooked and local food, washed down with endless cups of tea and biscuits.

Bosley Patch

Closer to home the multi talented Tamsin grows vegetables and flowers at Bosley Patch which can be found at Swiss Farm Camping in Henley. I often pick up a veg box when I'm in Henley and there really is nothing nicer than fresh vegetables of all shapes and sizes, grown with love.

Gower Cottage Brownies

As much as I love cooking I can safely say that baking is not my thing, so the genius that is Kate Jones is my go to girl for all things brownie. Kate lovingly prepares Gower Cottage Brownies and sends them out from her kitchens in the Gower. They arrive in the post and I defy anyone to say they're not delicious!

Brown Bear Bakery

Speaking of delicious and local I've placed an order for Granny Valley's cake with Michelle at Brown Bear Bakery at Holme Grange Craft Village. It's dangerous going in there as my eyes are bigger than my belly and I home in on the meringues that are huge, moreish and oh such a treat.

Supper!

Talking of treats I tried a few dishes from Supper recently. They were a real treat and a big hit with the family. As much as I love cooking there are just some days I can't think what to cook so a delivery of Pesto Chicken, mash, shepherds pie, beef ragu, vegetables and garlic bread was very welcome. No mess, fuss or nonsense. Just download the app to see what I'm talking about.

With all that talk of birthdays and food I must get a move on and get organised so I'm going to head to the freezer to see what I can find. Have a fun week.
