Nellie Knows : Wales : April 2019

Yesterday was a very special day for the Brecon Beacons National Park, as it was their birthday, celebrating 62 years of Brecon Beacons National Park Authority. The oldest National Park, the Peak District also had a birthday, this year celebrating 68 years.  The past two weeks has been National Parks Fortnight and social media has been busy with the hashtag #DiscoverNationalParks which has been an utter joy to see and has given people the opportunity to see all the National Park.

Another cause for celebration is my adopted town of Crickhowell was named best place to live in Wales in The Sunday Times. Much like Wokingham it takes me ages to go from one end of Crick, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again I love being part of a community.

I enjoy reading the list of “best places for this, that, x, y and z”, I think it stems from recording the charts from the radio on a tape all those years ago. I can still remember the drama of someone recording over the tape. Simple pleasures.

It’s now been 33 weeks since I went sugar free and I truly am feeling so well. I know the phrase “living my best life” is frowned upon but I have never felt better and so I’ll say it. I can’t say it’s been hard or easy but it’s been interesting, I never considered quite how much hidden sugar I was consuming and how much it was affecting me. No Easter Eggs for me!
